Recent Paintings

This year I have shifted my focus a bit. I've been painting more still lifes, portraits, and figures, along with some commissioned landscapes. This doesn't mean I am abandoning the land; just that I am allowing a broader range of subjects to occupy my mind.

I am very pleased to announce that my painting, "Rawah", has been selected to hang on loan in the United States Senate offices of Senator Michael Bennet, of Colorado, for at least a year through September 30, 2012.

Artistic Focus

Working exclusively in oils, Brenda Hendrix paints fine art landscapes, portraits, still lifes, and figures. Brenda's representational style combines strong, almost sculptural compositions with abstract design, subtle color, and loose, fresh brushwork. Her paintings are impressions of both the grand vistas and intimate scenes of both Western and European landscapes, of the people she encounters, and of the objects that attract her artistic eye.

Brenda's repertoire includes landscapes from Colorado and the Rocky Mountain West, Provence, Italy, New Mexico, as well as still lifes, portraits, and more. As always, Brenda's sensitive treatment of color, light, and composition remain uniquely her own. Brenda's works have been juried into numerous Exhibits and Shows, both at the local and national levels.

Painting Instruction

For ten years Brenda was a fine art instructor in oil painting at the Curtis Arts and Humanities Center in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and has taught individual and group oil painting workshops to artists in the United States and Mexico. Since 2008 she has offered group workshops to the public at her studio overlooking Huston Lake in near southwest Denver.
