"I am captive to the beauty of the world around me. I love the distance and depth of the landscape, the scale of the mountains, the patterns of the trees, rocks and water, the complementary colors that are there, how forms wrap around each other. I am equally fascinated by how visually rich a bowl of cherries can be, and by the character a person reveals in a glance. Regardless of subject matter, I convey what I feel through brushwork and the color, temperature and texture of oils, capturing a moment and preserving it."

As an artist, Brenda Hendrix is engaged in an ongoing exploration of artistic ideas, materials, and techniques. Working in oils, she paints in a painterly style that shows obvious brushwork and emphasizes color, stroke and texture rather than line. Brenda is recognized as an accomplished colorist who employs unique palettes and combines multiple subdued complementary colors to create the soft tension and visual liveliness of her paintings. Brenda's paintings have been shown in galleries from Florida to Montana, and her works have been juried into numerous regional and national shows. Brenda's paintings are held in both private and corporate collections nationwide.

Brenda's initial path was to teach art; she received her B.S. in art education from the University of Alabama. And she still loves teaching. She now offers oil painting workshops one day a week from her home studio in Denver days a week at her art studio in Denver, Colorado.
